  • The Ocean Visions Summit brings together a multidisciplinary community working across science, technology, policy, governance, business, and conservation to advance the sharing of knowledge and solutions to critical challenges at the ocean-climate nexus.

  • As a hub for marine research, coastal resilience efforts, and regional cooperation, Cartagena offers a compelling environment to connect global expertise with local knowledge and action. The Summit will engage regional institutions, universities, and stakeholders to ensure meaningful local participation alongside international dialogue.

Pursuing Ocean-Climate Solutions in a World of Accelerating Change

The ocean is under threat from a host of pressures, but none loom larger than those caused by greenhouse gas pollution, which drives overheating and acidification. In order to address this ocean-climate crisis, the world needs to generate and scale innovative solutions much more effectively and quickly.

The Summit program will be highly interactive, offering opportunities to learn from leading experts, explore shared challenges through workshops, forge new collaborations, and turn ideas into action. 

Key Themes

Across four interconnected themes, we’ll explore the current state of work and what the future holds for potential solutions for ocean and climate recovery:

REDUCE

Ocean-Based Decarbonization: This track will cover high-leverage ocean-based opportunities to accelerate a just transition to a low-carbon economy

REMOVE

Marine Carbon Dioxide Removal: This track will provide the latest information, challenges and opportunities in the race to test and develop ocean-based pathways for cleaning up carbon pollution

REPAIR

Marine Ecosystem Repair: This track will cover emerging conservation tools and approaches that might help rebuild the health and critical stabilizing functions of critical marine ecosystems while decarbonization and carbon dioxide removal efforts progress

REACH

Expanding the Global Community of Solvers: This track will investigate social and governance dimensions and how we can significantly grow a diverse global community to innovate, test and develop ocean-climate solutions
